Designing and Implementing a multi-national Work from Home furniture program
Overview:
We worked with a client with global operations that had recently transitioned to a remote work environment due to the COVID-19 pandemic. As a result, the company faced new challenges in ensuring that their remote employees had access to suitable furniture for their home offices. The client approached Swift with a request to create a work from home furniture program that could provide a desk and desk chair to any employee working remotely.
Objective:
The objective of the project was to design and implement a global furniture program that could provide work-from-home furniture to the client's employees in over 60 countries across six continents. The program needed to be efficient, cost-effective, secure, and easily accessible to all remote employees.
Approach:
Swift began the project by conducting extensive conversations with the client’s stakeholders, including leaders from their HR, facilities, and tax teams. We also assessed the furniture options that were currently available to us. Based on our findings, we proposed a solution that would involve partnering with local furniture manufacturers and logistics providers in each country.
We developed a standardized furniture package that included a desk and desk chair, which could be easily assembled by the employees themselves. We also created an online portal where employees could request the furniture package, and we coordinated with local logistics providers to ensure timely and efficient delivery.
Results:
The work-from-home furniture program was successfully implemented, providing the client's remote employees with access to suitable workstations. The program was launched within three months of the initial request, and employees across the world could easily request and receive their furniture packages. The first order was placed 8 minutes after the initial email was sent to launch the campaign and the employee had their desk and chair within 2 weeks.
By partnering with 3 local manufacturers and logistics providers, we were able to minimize costs and streamline logistics. Swift also provided ongoing support to ensure that the program ran smoothly, including managing the inventory and addressing any logistical issues that arose.
Conclusion:
Swift's approach to developing the work from home furniture program for the multinational client was successful in meeting the client's needs. By leveraging our supply chain and logistics expertise, we were able to design and implement a program that was efficient, cost-effective, and easily accessible to employees across the world. We are proud of the impact that our work has had on the client's remote workforce and look forward to future collaborations.
